Doctor Who is a popular British TV show that I know very little about. I know it’s been on for like fifty years (like Coronation Street) and I know that it has something to do with science fiction.

So with that in mind, don’t get mad at me if I get some of my Doctor Who facts wrong in this mod writeup. The Doctor Who mod for Minecraft is an ambitious project that aims to bring together the world of Doctor Who and the world of Minecraftia.

So far, the Doctor Who Mod is in its ‘pre-alpha’ development stage and a download is not yet available. However, the mod has already attracted hundreds of thousands of views and thousands of favorites – even though nobody outside the modding team has actually played it. So yeah, you could say Doctor Who fans are looking forward to a Doctor Who mod for Minecraft. Apparently there’s a lot of crossover between those two fan groups. There will also be new mobs like the K9 robot dog units and several totally new GUI systems that allow players to easily select their world, access the time vortex, and transcend dimensions. In the Doctor Who mod, players will travel through time and space because they are The Doctor. As The Doctor, players can explore the universe and fully discover over thirty new planets.

They will also get to explore the interior of TARDIS and enjoy all of the parts of the Doctor Who universe you enjoy seeing in the show. 600 features? An entire new universe to explore? 30 new planets? 80 new species?

Free-play story-based quest? Flying telephone booths? If the Doctor Who mod fulfills all its promises, it’s going to be one of the most ambitious Minecraft projects to date.
